Well, my first experience of workshop has been really positive. I had a range of comments and most of the concerns focused on the same two or three issues, so I’ve got a really strong steer for the next draft.
On the other side of it, I’ve been critiquing other workshop members’ stories and that’s been really valuable too. You get a strong sense of the common traps and, when you see a technique that works well, you can nick it… I mean, you can see if you can learn from it.
The new story is taking shape. It’s not like anything I’ve written before, but it has a lot of me in it. I’m just about ready to start scribbling down a first draft.
